Taking Care of Your Self

     Good day to you all!  It looks like it's going to be a beautiful one!

FOOD

          Coconut oil!  If I were to type down all the amazing and wonderful uses and benefits of this super food, you'd be reading til my next blog entry.
     Coconut oil has been used for thousands of years for pharmaceutical treatment, as well as in everyday diet.  Take the time to look at these different links!!!!

FITNESS

          When you hear the word "core" what's the first part of your body you think of?  You're abs, right?  Well, you're abs are not the only part of your core.
     The core of your body is the entire mid section.  And that includes your back!  When people work out their core, they only focus on stomach muscles.  But your back is just as, if not more, important than your abdominals.  Next time you do core work, focus half of your work out on your lower back.  If you don't know what exercises to do, try asking a trainer, or looking some up on the net.  I get most of my work out ideas on Pinterest!

WRIGHTING/LITRITURE

To thy beloved,

I have found no more.  They journey you hath begun with me must end with out me.  My love for thee was strong, but they love for myself was burned and broken.  I felt I had fallen from our Lord.  That he hath seen no more good in me.  I had gone on for months with feelings of sorrow and nothingness.  And than I dreamt that an angel of the Lord looked down upon me.  It spoke, but I understood it not.  Its heavenly glow blinded me, and my eyes could no longer see.  I thought my soul taken.  My body felt as hollow as conch shell.  I could feel the sound of the ocean traveling through me.  But then I was awoken.  I was certain I was dead.  My dream was real.  How could it have not been?  I was sure that the angel had forgotten my soul.  So I had to make sure my soul was returned to God.  So I beg of you, do not be cross with me.  It had to be done.  Do not worry my dear, one day the angel will collect your soul as well, and then we will be reunited in the kingdom of our ever so holy God.  And we shall be together for eternity.

I must go now.  Farewell my dear, I bid thee goodbye…

Written by me.

JUST A THOUGHT

    Do you ever wonder about the maintenance people you let into your house?  You know, the people who install your cable, or check your pluming?  I bet you don't even think twice about them coming into your house because you figure they're doing their job.
     When I was younger my mom had a cable guy come and check something out at our house, I was still in bed at the time.  In our old house, we had our tv in the den, and you had to walk through the living room to get there.  Well, you could see right into my room from the living room.
     So this cable guy kept going out side and coming back in.  One of the times he came back into the house, instead of going straight to the living, he decided to walk to my door way and look in at me.  I was awake, but I was pretending to be asleep.  He looked for a few seconds, then went back to work.  When I told my mom later, you can just imagine how upset and angry she was that a strange man decided to walk through our house just to get a glance at me!
     So, when you let people in your house, even people coming to do work for you, keep an eye on them!  Shut the doors to your bedrooms, put away any valuables that might be sitting out, and don't EVER be alone with them.  Make sure someone is home with you when they come.  People are capable of all kinds of terrible things.

     Until next time... :-)

Bigger and Better Things

          Good morning my lovelies!  I actually have some things to blog about this week! :D

FOOD
     So I had the privilage to try a couple amazing recipes this week!  Super easy, as well as delicious!

GARLIC CHEESY BREAD
My attempt above!  It turned out amazing! /\

 BROCCOLI CHEDDAR BITES

FITNESS

          I've been incorpurating a lot of kettle bell work into my exercise.  And let me tell you, I love it!!!  There's just something about using a kettle bell that makes such a difference in the way your body feels!  So here's some exercises to try next time you're at the gym!

WRIGHTING/LITRITURE
     Do you hand write anything anymore?  Better yet, do you write anything in cursive anymore?  Because I know I don't!  Next time you have to write something by hand, do it in cursive!  I've been slacking off so much, I don't even think I know how to write the whole cursive alphabet anymore!

JUST A THOUGHT
     So I've decided to replace the humor section with this!  Since I'm not funny, I'll fill this portion of my blog with my thoughts on what ever.

     I just watched the documentary "Bully".  If you couldn't figure it out by the name, it's about Bullying in schools.  It's an amazingly eye-opening, and heart wrenching documentary that I think every parent and their children need to watch.
     People think children ate all innocent and don't know any better when they do cruel things to each other.  That's a lie!  Kids are not innocent, and they know exactly what they're doing!  And this documentary is proof of that!
     If you're afraid that this film is too graphic for your child, don't.  I guarantee you they see, and hear worse every day at school!
     Help protect your kids, and others from bullying!  Start with this film!

     I hope everyone got something out of my blog this week!  Until next time... :-)

Bleh!

       This week has been a little off for me.  I haven't been sleeping well, and I haven't really had time to put much effort into this weeks blog.  So all of this is off the top of my head...  And, I couldn't get the pictures to work. :-(

FOOD

     Diet Tip:  If you're not hungry, DON'T EAT!!!!

FITNESS
          I tend to exercise 5 to 6 times a week, but that isn't always the greatest idea.  If you're pushing your self so hard that you're always sore, maybe it's time to take a break.  Instead of your usual 5 or 6 times a week, try slowing down to 3 times a week.  Just for a week.  If you don't give your body time to heal and regain it's strangth, then you could do irreversible damage.  You don't want to do that!

WRIGHTING/LITRITURE
      One of my all time favorite poems!
THE RAVEN.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore —
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“ ’Tis some visiter,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door —
Only this and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; — vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow — sorrow for the lost Lenore —
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore —
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me — filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“ ’Tis some visiter entreating entrance at my chamber door —
Some late visiter entreating entrance at my chamber door; —
This it is and nothing more.”

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
“Sir,” said I, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you” — here I opened wide the door; ——
Darkness there and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Lenore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Lenore!” —
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
“Surely,” said I, “surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore —
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;—
‘Tis the wind and nothing more!”

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door —
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door —
Perched, and sat, and nothing more. [column 5:]

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore —
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning — little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door —
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as “Nevermore.”

But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing farther then he uttered — not a feather then he fluttered —
Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before —
On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before.”
Then the bird said “Nevermore.”

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
“Doubtless,” said I, “what it utters is its only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore —
Till the dirges of his Hope that melancholy burden bore
Of ‘Never — nevermore’.”

But the Raven still beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore —
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking “Nevermore.”

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom’s core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion’s velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o’er,
But whose velvet-violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o’er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
“Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee — by these angels he hath sent thee
Respite — respite and nepenthe, from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil! — prophet still, if bird or devil! —
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted —
On this home by Horror haunted — tell me truly, I implore —
Is there — is there balm in Gilead? — tell me — tell me, I implore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil! — prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us — by that God we both adore —
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore —
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

“Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting —
“Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! — quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted — nevermore!

HUMOR
      I thinking of just taking this section out and replacing it with someone else.  I'm not funny.  I'm sorry!

     I hope that wasn't too painful.  :-/

A New Day!

     Hello all!  A few things really quick.  I feel like I've been a little lax on my last couple entries and I want to apologize.  I used to have my blog done by 10 or 10:30am, but now I'm not getting it done till around 1 or 2 just because I haven't been sleeping well.  So I'm planning on getting back on schedule soon. :-)

FOOD

     I'm going to share a recipe my husband and I made up.  I was surprised how well it came out!  Super yummy chicken tacos!
     Now, the thing about me when I develop recipes, I don't use measurements.  I just pretty much eye ball everything.  So, I'm going to issue you a challenge.  Try this recipe!  No measurements, just add ingredients to taste.

Chicken Tacos

Chicken Marinade Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts.  (Usually bout 2 brests per person)
An Orange
A Lime
Olive Oil
An Onion
Garlic
Cilantro
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Chili Powder
Cayenne Pepper
Jalapeno Juice from a jar or can (optional)

Directions:
Rinse the chicken off after taking it out of package.  Lay the chicken breast on a cutting board and puncture several times with knife.  (This is so it can absorbed more flavor.)  Place chicken breast in a ziplock.  Cut slices of the orange, lime, and onion and add to the chicken.  Leave enough of the fruit to squeeze in some juice.  Mince the garlic, and chop the cilantro.  Add to the chicken as well.  Add your seasonings/spices little by little.  It's always better to add too little than too much because you can always add more.  And if desired, add you jalapeno juice.
Seal the ziplock nice and tight to avoid any leaking.  Mix the marinade by gently squeezing and moving the bag for a few seconds.
Marinate for 24 hours.
Other Ingredients:
Tortillas
(All optional)
Brown Rice
More Onion
More Cilantro
Avocado
Jalapenos
Cheese of your choice (I use sharp cheddar or cotija)
Sour Cream

Bake chicken on 350* for 45 minutes to an hour.  Make sure you pour everything from the ziplock onto the chicken.
While the chicken is baking, make your rice (fallow directions on package), and fry your taco shells in olive oil.  Make sure you make enough for everyone.  I make 3 - 4 taco shells each person.  To fry the taco shells, add olive oil to a frying pan and put on high heat.  Add just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, and then add more as needed.  Depending on how big your pan is, add 2 - 3 tortillas to oil and fry.  Wait until tortillas start to stiffen a little bit, then flip with tongs.  When the other side starts to stiffen, fold tortilla into taco shell and let stiffen even more and flip again.  Make sure the shell is stiff enough to keep it's shape, but not so stiff it's going to crack. Put finished shells on a plate with some paper towel to absorb the extra oil.  Now, you can either just add avocado, or make a quick guacamole.  To make guacamole just mush up avocado in a bowl and add lime juice and cotija cheese, or you can use guacamole mix, but why use that when it's so easy to make?
Once your chicken is done, shred or chop.  And that's it!  Add your toppings as desired and enjoy!

FITNESS

     You never want to stick to the same exercise routine for too long.  If you do, you're body will start getting used to it and will stall your muscle building and weight loss.  You should change your work outs every 30 days.  They can be subtle changes, but make sure it's something you're not use to.  Instead of just jogging on the treadmill, try increasing the incline to 1 and jog for 5 minutes, sprint for 30 seconds, and then walk for 5 minutes.  You'll burn more calories, and increase your endurance!

WRIGHTING/LITRITURE

     I've been forcing my self to keep up with writing my story little by little.  I never thought forcing my self would bring any inspiration, but once I start writing it just kind of flows out.  So if you're lacking some inspiration with your writing, just sit down and write!  Trust me, once you get your momentum up, you might not be able to stop.

HUMOR

     Funny story time.
     I have a cockatiel.  And sometimes he can be just as bad as my dog when it comes to wanting the food I'm eating.
     One day I was eating a rice cake with some honey on it and Optimus (my cockatiel, it was my husband's job to name him) next to me.  He started walking over to see what I was eating, and all of the sudden he jumped onto my rice cake and got stuck on the honey!  It was like birdie fly paper!  Poor thing was flapping and trying to get him self loose while I couldn't breath because I was laughing so hard.  Once I got him off the honey, I can to hold him and wipe the honey off of his feet.  I wish I had taken a video of that one!

   Until next time... :-)
